A trip to the desert in Morocco is not complete without a camel trek in the dunes. For those who are fascinated by the caravans which crossed the African deserts between mythical cities transporting wanted products like salt, this is the opportunity to feel like a nomad for a few moments.
The sunset tour begins around 5pm. It takes almost half an hour to reach the sand dunes of Erg chebbi on top of a camel. Then, we will leave the camels and in about 80 meters you will reach the highest dune of Erg Chebbi Merzouga. For those who want to see a panoramic view, they must climb to the top. The hike to the top will take you another 10 minutes. If you prefer not to hike up the highest dunes, the area around the camel “parking” is perfect to watch the sunset. After enjoying the sunset, travel back to the village, stopping by the gardens.
